Toyota is investing $50 million in Telsa Motors and agreed to jointly develop this electric RAV4 with a Telsa powertrain. The first prototype of the electric Toyota RAV4 is in testing, and within this year more will be developed by Telsa and delivered to Toyota for evaluation.

The engineering features of Toyota’s electric vehicles, parts, and production system hope to benefit Telsa. Toyota is excited for the further production of the RAV4 and plans to learn from Telsa’s technology and decision-making.

Telsa Motors is looking forward to contributing to the design and engineering of more conventional electric cars. “Tesla, which in June began selling shares to the public, says it hopes to drive down the cost of electric vehicles so they become within reach of mainstream buyers.” (MSNBC)

The new and pre-owned Toyota dealership helped bring the students’ costs from $70-$90 per student, down to only $35, with their generous $4,000 donation.  Held at the Dave & Buster’s in Addison, Illinois, students played games, ate food, and had a fantastic time from 11:30 p.m. until 4:00 a.m.  Lombard Toyota leasing and sales consultant, Shannon Mandeldove, stated, “This was a great way for us to help out in the community and know that students had a chance to have fun after the prom festivities.”
